Copy Cat Mittens - Free Pattern

Copy Cat Mittens - A ThriftyRedhead Design!

2 skeins of worsted weight or medium yarn, held double. (I used Vanna’s Choice in Silver Grey). It got kind of bulky and a little difficult, but the mittens ended up super heavy and warm. I used #9 dpns.

The palms and thumbs are from the palm mods for Bella’s Mittens, here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/notes-for-moss-stitch-palm-variation-to-bella-mittens
The mock cable stitch is from the Copy Cat Hat, here: http://slomoeknits.wordpress.com/2007/03/25/slouchy-copy-cat-hat/

Cast on 37 stitches, divide on dpns as follows, 10, 10, 17. Join in the round being careful not to twist. Place marker for beginning of round.

Wise Old Owl Cowl - Free Pattern

Wise Old Owl Cowl – A ThriftyRedhead Design!

I knitted the Wise Old Owl Hat here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wise-old-owl-hat---adult-version and loved it, but wished there was a matching cowl. I’m not much of a scarf girl, so I decided to try to make my own cowl based off the hat. There are a few things I added and a few things I omitted from the original pattern. I didn’t purl where the eyes are and I actually like my version better than the original hat’s eyes. The buttons seem to sit better in the face, I think. I added two purled rows before the owl cables and after the owl cables, and I like the definition it gives. You can omit that if you wish and just do two rows of stockinette. I also did some buttonhole rows, but you could omit those and just seam it or just knit it in the round, like the hat. Also, the buttonhole rows, you could move those around if you wanted, in case you wanted more buttons or less buttons.

Also, the wonderful Lisa over at Eclats did a French translation! (Direct Link to Pattern)

Willing And Able

I'm finally able to update here! Yay! I updated my other blog first, since I figured it would take quite a while, and, it did! Go take a peek-sie! ThriftyRedhead Creates! Right now it just has my knitting projects on there, but I will update with my jewelry, stitch markers, embroidery, and fabric crafts, like my hair clips.

But for now, I will share with you my thrifty finds!

I got a glasses chain for my cat eye glasses I have for $.50 from St. Vincent de Paul. (I didn't take a picture of it.)

A pretty darn rad 70's wallet. $1 from St. Vincent de Paul.

Two zipper pouches I got from St. Vincent de Paul. One was $.50 and the other was $.25 The red one keeps my business cards  and the pink one holds my change and some discount cards from random stores.

A cute little mushroom canister from Goodwill. I can't remember how much I paid.

A cute floral kitty from Goodwill. $3.99. A little pricey for what it really is, but it was so cute, I couldn't leave it!

A beautiful frame from Goodwill that was never used for $1.00.

A book from Goodwill for $.85.

That's all my thrifty finds for today! Be sure to go check out all my handmade creations on ThriftyRedhead Creates!

What are your thrifty finds this week?!
